We're combining two of summer's greatest pleasures--ice cream and movies--with the Boston premiere of Sweet Dreams, followed by an ice cream social at Chilly Cow, located diagonally across the street from the theater.
Why are we pairing this particular movie with an ice cream social? The film is about a group of women from both sides of the 1994 Rwandan genocide who, after forming Rwanda's first and only all women's drumming troupe, decide to partner with two young American entrepreneurs, Jennie Dundas and Alexis Miesen of Brooklyn's Blue Marble Ice Cream, to open Rwanda's first ever ice cream shop. These remarkable Rwandan women embark on a journey of independence, peace and possibility. The film interweaves intimate, heart-wrenching stories with joyous and powerful music to present a moving portrait of a country in transition.
