An exploration of issues of race and class privilege among Rio de Janeiro’s decadent elite, this timely film depicts a teenage boy’s struggle to escape his overprotective parents as they covertly spiral into bankruptcy. Part of our spotlight on Brazil, host of the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Speaker: Ana Paula Hirano, a doctoral student at Harvard's Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. Her primary areas of interest are Brazilian literature and film. She is the co-director and co-editor of the work-in-progress documentary One Day We Arrived in Japan
