6th ANNUAL FAMILY FESTIVAL
"LineStorm Animated Digital Flipbooks" Workshop (age 10 & up)
Saturday, November 15 | 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Belmont High School
Award-winning filmmaker and Massachusetts Cultural Council Teaching Fellow Pell Osborn, creator of the LineStorm animation program, teaches this daylong workshop on digital animation, which merges traditional line-drawn animation techniques with computer animation. Osborn describes this innovative arts education creative learning process as, “brainstorming with a moving line, such that each individual designs and animates their individual sequences to build a group project.”
Students will make multiple drawings using a light box--no previous drafting experience required--and then transfer them into the digital realm for editing, looping, and syncing up with a soundtrack to create a finished film. The film will premiere at the Belmont Youth Video & Animation Festival on Saturday, November 22, at 3:00 PM. Participants will also take home their finished artwork and flipbooks of their own design, in addition to a DVD of the completed film.
The cost is $30 per student, which includes lunch. To sign up or for more information, call the Belmont Media Center at 617-484-2443 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration deadline is November 14, and space is limited, so reserve early to guarantee a spot.
Class takes place at the Belmont Media Center located in Room 117 at Belmont High School (221 Concord Avenue, Belmont).
