Six year old Jean lives with his little brother, busy father, and kind nanny, but one thing is missing: where is Mommy? When an older girl sees that he is being picked on in school, she begins reading him a series of postcards, supposedly from his mother, filled with stories of her adventures around the world. The truth is slowly revealed, and the world Jean built to protect himself begins to melt away. It makes for a moving tale with moments of sheer, simple, childish joy. Based on the award-winning graphic novel from France by Jean Regnaud and Emile Bravo. Age5+ ($8).
