7TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL FILM
SERIES

You never know where life will take you.
THE
ROLLING FAMILY
Argentina,
no rating, 103 minutes

Sunday, March 16 | 7:30 PM
When an octogenerian grandmother is invited to be the matron
of honor at the wedding of a distant niece, she squeezes four generations
of her family into a dilapidated 1956 Chevy Viking camper for a cross-country
road trip teeming with domestic discord. During the long, stiflingly hot
journey from Buenos Aires to Misiones, their destination along the border of
Argentina and Brazil, they encounter all manner of problems and people, from
rekindling old family feuds to wild cowboys on the Pampas.
Special
presentation: Photographs
taken by underprivileged teens enrolled in PH 15, a photography program on the
outskirts of Buenos Aires, will be on display and for sale in the theater lobby
with proceeds to benefit the program. Similar to the film Born Into Brothels, PH15 teaches teenagers living in Villa 15 (slum
15, also known as the ¨Hidden City¨) how to use photography as a language for
communicating ideas about their lives and environment to a broader audience.
Villa 15 is one of the hundreds of shantytowns housing the 19 million
Argentines who have fallen below the poverty line during the economic decline
of the past decade.
